Letter from three subscribers signing C. A., C. J. and P. P., under the motto «Démasquer un fripon, est œuvre méritoire». A poster has been announcing for 8-10 days that a «skilful physician» has discovered the invisibility of the human body and shows, for 1 franc 50 centimes, a 14-year-old girl turned invisible who answers questions; two physicists in the Journal de Paris had judged the mystery impenetrable. On the third floor in rue Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois the authors find a bare room, divided by a grille, with a glass case hung from the ceiling by four small chains and a speaking-trumpet from which comes a low, hoarse, Gascon voice, which answers well the prearranged questions of an accomplice and badly the others; they note that the case almost touches the wall and that the curved trumpet carries the voice towards the wall, from which they infer that the answers come from there, and they call on the police to act against such swindles.
