Invisibilité du corps humain

Le Courrier des spectacles, ou Journal des théâtres, Paris 6 february 1800, pp. 3-4.

1 volume available

New unsigned reply by the exhibitor (presumably Doctor Laurent) to the letter of 12 pluviôse, attributed to the jealousy of a «physicien» who in his Fantasmagorie show presents a «prodige de voix humaine» (an allusion to Robertson), whose tricks the author promises to expose in various newspapers. There follows a certificate by six visitors (Pierre Daniel, Bernardin, J. B. Lebeau, Gabriel Davente, femme Benoit) attesting that the white glass case, hung from four chains in front of a window, does not touch the wall, that the invisible person has a slightly Provençal accent and not a hoarse Gascon voice, that she answers through the side opening and that her breathing, breath and the warmth of her chest can be felt. The exhibitor announces that, given the crowds, the room will stay open until further notice from one to five o'clock, at the unchanged price of 1 franc 50 centimes, place Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois, entrance from rue des Prêtres, allée du buraliste, second floor above the entresol.
