Advertisement and short review of the novel Le Château de Duncan, ou l'Homme invisible by «Michel-Théodore L. C....» (2 vols. in-12, with plates; 3 francs, 4 francs post free), on sale in Paris from Maradan, rue Pavée-Saint-André-des-Arcs no. 16, and from Le Normant, rue des Prêtres-Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois no. 42. The reviewer warns that, despite its title, the novel does not belong to the «frightening» genre fashionable the previous year: a man driven by revenge, jealousy and his own safety deceives and steers the characters without ever being discovered, producing the effect of the marvellous. Its interest lies in the theme of invisibility fashionable in spring 1800 and in the coincidence of the bookseller's address (no. 42) with the venue of Doctor Laurent's show (rue des Prêtres, no. 40).
