Letter to the editor (in the feuilleton at the foot of the page) signed "Frédéric M.", describing a visit on 30 thermidor to R. Charles's (Charles Rouy's) salon of acoustic physics in the passage Longueville, where the Second Consul (Cambacérès) was also present. A man and a woman, both invisible, were heard speaking, singing, playing instruments and describing the visitors' costumes through four acoustic horns fitted to a glass globe suspended in the middle of the room; then the bust of Trophonius and, for the first time, that of the Pythoness of Delphi answered questions, the Pythoness with a quatrain about peace; couplets in honour of the First Consul and a duet followed. The Second Consul promised the "beautiful invisible" to return soon with Bonaparte; the postscript reports Charles's proposal to establish, in about a minute, a spoken conversation between Paris and Versailles, which would be "well worth the telegraph". Full transcription and Italian translation.
