Au rédacteur du Courrier des spectacles

Le Courrier des spectacles, ou Journal des théâtres, Paris 21 august 1800, p. 4.

1 volume available

Letter dated "Paris, 1er fructidor" and signed "Frédéric M***", a version of the same letter published the day before in the Journal des débats: on 30 thermidor, in R. Charles's (Charles Rouy's) salon of acoustic physics in the passage Longueville, the Second Consul witnessed the experiments of an invisible man and woman who spoke, sang, played instruments and described the visitors' costumes through four acoustic horns fitted to a suspended glass globe; then the bust of Trophonius spoke, and, for the first time, that of the Pythoness of Delphi, who answered with a quatrain about peace. The Second Consul promised the "belle Invisible" he would return with Bonaparte; the postscript reports Charles's project for a long-distance conversation between Paris and Versailles, which would be worth the telegraph. Full transcription and Italian translation.
